WHY PURCHASE AND NOT LEASE?
YOU WILL OWN YOUR SOLAR ARRAY!
Granite State Solar only supplies purchased solar systems. With all the options out there right now for solar, we want to make sure you have all the information you need in order to make an informed decision.
Especially in New Hampshire, with today's solar financing options, the current rebates, tax credits and renewable energy credits, it only makes sense to own your solar array, rather than lease.
Now through the year 2022, the IRS is offering a 30% tax credit based on the cost of your solar array, and the NH Public Utility Commission does offer a rebate, but it will be changing as of July 2017 - we are still waiting to hear from the PUC what the amount will be.
You can also receive renewable energy credits (REC's). These are purchased by the utility companies at auction to increase their renewable portfolio. A REC is the equivalent of 1,000 kwh or production and sells at auction for $15-25. This will generally bring you $150-$300/ year, depending on the size of your system.
When you lease, the company you lease from receives those credits, rebates and REC's.
With no money down, low interest financing options, there is no reason NOT to purchase your own system and start saving money immediately!
Our goal is to bring your current monthly payments lower than you are paying your utility company.
One of our recent customers was about to sign on with a leasing company until he heard more about purchasing with GSS. The leasing company was going to charge him $0.1704 per kWh, which is the same price as the utility company is charging, PLUS, a $10-15+ monthly fee is still charged from the utility company. If you ever sell your home, you need to have the new owner agree to the terms of the leasing company and sign a contract, or you can choose to have the panels removed, leaving holes in your roof!
If you purchase your system, you own your panels after 12 years (or sooner, if you choose a shorter term loan or pay cash), and the panels are under warranty for 25 years!
